Rare 2" Mortar transit case

2" Mortar transit case Mk2 for the Mk7** and Mk8* mortars (the infantry versions of the 2" OML) according to the label in the lid but should fit most of the earlier marks with the small baseplate. Has been modified at some point for another purpose by removing one of the bottom packing blocks but this would be easy to replace if you have a 2" mortar to get the height from. Replacement hasps and catches. Cleaned up and repainted and stencilled as per original markings found during old paint removal. During this process other markings were noted, '10 Para sup coy' and 'Quebec Barracks Osnabruck'' where 3 Para were stationed in the 1980's. Rope handles complete and in good condition. As is common with transit boxes there is slight crack to the rear panel.

The lid has two interesting labels under it; one stating the mortars it is for and how to stow them, and another giving the CES that should be packed with the mortar

This is a rare item and the only one I have seen for sale without mortar.
