.450 Inert Ammo

.450 Adams/Webley type rimmed inert ammo. The .450 cartridge was the first centre fire hand gun round adopted by the British Army. Between 1865 and 1867 the War office officially adopted the .450 Adams revolver and this ammo to replace the Beaumont-Adams Percussion revolver.

From a modern perspective the .450 revolver round would be considered inadequate, even contemporary opinion considered it inadquate, but it continued in use until the early 1880's. However successive experience in the Egyptian campaign had caused both revolver and cartridge to be replaced by the .455 Enfield around 1882.
The .450 was popular as a calibre however in many civilian markets. It can be used alongside the .455 in Webley's etc without any problems.
