2" Mortar MkII*, 1944 in box with accessories (2IN-21-2) ON HOLD FOR CUSTOMER

We have never had a 2" mortar come in so complete, this really is a one off item. Scarce 2" Mark II* Mortar (introduced in 1938) dated 1944, The Mark II* had a large base and was normally carried in the universal carrier, this example has a WW2 conversion from the Mark II* to the spade base, however the replacement base therefore is of a different type to the MkVII and other 2" mortar marks. 

Barrel and base cleaned, the whole sprayed, ready to display. We have also 'flashed' over the chest with spray paint as a lot was missing, but the buyer might want to strip and repaint.

The original deactivation (no different really to 2010) was messily done and we have cleaned that up before spraying.

The mortar came in its box (a rare item in its self) which has an early CES list in the lid (some items do not apply as they were changed as the war progressed) and has the following accessories with it :

• Chest 2" mortar, rope handle in good condition
• Can Oil MG Mk3 (late war plastic version it came with)
• Muzzle Cover (Rare item) Canadian marked
• 1945 dated cleaning kit cover (used condition)
• 2 part cleaning rod, second pattern screw together, anodised)
• Brush, used condition
• 2 part MG rod we have put this item in this kit, it was for a really early brush, so is not necessary really, and I suspect it was a different MG .303 rod that was used, possibly the bren one as it is a slightly awkward fit
• 1945 dated 2" mortar sling with clips (CES specifies the Bren sling but clearly late war the dedicated sling was issued, we had a some a few years ago, it is a scarce item
• 2" mortar sight-we have added this s it's in the CES
• Tin CM98 for spares came in the chest.

Deactivated in our own workshop to 2010 spec in 2018 as per Home Office specification as mortars were not included in the EU specification. Comes with Birmingham Proof House certificate.

This item is marked as not available to post, but this can be discussed if there is no possibility of the customer collecting, but it will not be cheap as will have to go in 3 boxes!
