Belgian 1924 Mauser (B01)
FN Mauser Model 1924. These model 1924 Mausers were made by FN at
Herstal, Belgium and based on the proven K98 action. This example was made
between 1930 and 1934 for a Chinese contract during the Chiang Kai Shek period (if I have got my history right!) and has some Chinese characters on the breech.
When the Germans invaded Belgium in 1940 they took over the Herstal Factory at Liege and continued making the 1924 and 1930 Mausers for the German Army in this configuration, so these rifles are also typical of those used by the Germans between 1940 and 1945
Condition is used but very good. We have sourced several of these and many seem to have a common fault in that the majority of them have slight cracks or missing sections to the rear of the top handguard, and also the short extension of the guard forward of the lower band is often damaged,(B) but not this one!
These rifles are uncommon and will be of interest to Mauser collectors and also those collecting Korean war memorabilia as many of these model 24's saw service with the Chinese army during that conflict. Working action and Proof House Cert.
