Lee Enfield No5 jungle Carbine (A24)

Lee Enfield No5 jungle carbine. Introduced in 1944 specifically for jungle fighting, these rifles were converted at Fazackerley to the new lightened version. Opinions vary as to what the soldiers thought of them, but it was never very successful as it would not hold 'zero'. many experiments were carried out but the carbine was in the end withdrawn as 'inherently flawed'.

This carbine is in the early configuration without the squared metal foreend of the postwar versions and is absolutely genuine having been built in June 1945 at Fazackerly

used Cond, full working action, complete with deactivation certificate.
